IN WINTER
HUSKY SAFARIS NEXT TO RANUA ZOO
When the weather allows, husky programs will move to Wild Arctic Husky Park, which is near to Ranua Zoo.
The meeting place is in front of the reception of Holiday Village Gulo Gulo. Here you can also borrow warm safari overalls and shoes if booked in advance. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the safari if you have booked the winter equipment.
Shorter safaris are also suitable for children, and children travel on the same sled with the adults. Children under the age of 3 can take part in a safari in the lap of an adult for free. Please indicate the age of each child when booking, including children under 3 years old.
Please note that programs are always organized with safety first, so sometimes the program needs to be changed.
Prices include a guide who speaks Finnish or English, sled dog team you will drive, (two adults and children in the sled), winter equipment and VAT.

2 Hour Husky Safari
2 hour program, incl. 1 hour 40 min husky ride
This safari is our most popular safari for adults!
First you will get driving and security instructions so that you can drive the sled by yourselves. After the driving lesson, you will get to your sled dogs, but there is no time for petting and cuddling because the huskies want to run!
One of the adults will drive the sledge, while the other sits on the sledge admiring the snowy scenery or taking pictures. The drive is about 14-20km, and there is a break in the middle of the trip, allowing you to switch places between the driver and the adult passenger. You can also ask the guide to take a picture of you while you have the break.
After the ride, you have time to thank the dogs for a memorable safari with petting and cuddling. This is also a good time to ask guide about the lives of the huskies!
This safari is also suitable for children, but we don´t recommend such a long husky safari for children under 6 years old.

1 hour program, incl. 40 min husky ride
This program is suitable for all ages.
The husky safari starts with the driving instruction, after which you can safely guide the team of sled dogs by yourself. One of the adults acts as a driver, while the others are enjoying the ride and the beautiful scenery while sitting on the sledge. Children travel with adults on the same sledge.
Halfway through the 40-minute drive, there is a short break where you can switch places between the driver and the adult passenger. During the break, you can also ask the guide to take a picture of you and your team of dogs.
After the sledge ride, it’s time to pet the sled dogs in thanks to safari and ask the guide for more about the huskies.
This safari is suitable for all ages. Children under the age of 3 can participate for free of charge.

5 km Huskysafari
40min program, incl. 20min husky ride
This program is suitable for all ages, a great way for whole family members to enjoy the snow.
The program starts with the driving lesson, after which you can safely guide the sled dog team yourself. One of the adults stands behind the sledge and guides the husky team, while the other is enjoying the ride and the beautiful natural scenery while sitting on the sledge. Children sit in the same sledge as adults.
The route is 5km long and runs in the forest near Ranua Zoo. After the husky ride, it’s time to pet the friendly huskies to thank them for the safari. You can also ask the guide more about the life of the sled dogs, and how to care for them.
This safari is especially suitable for families with small children but of course, also adult teams are welcome. However, we recommend a longer safari for adults, as we have received feedback from our customers that the fun ended up too short.
Children under the age of 4 can participate for free of charge. 2 adults (+ children) / sledge.

Day as a musher
approx. 5 hour program, incl. 35-45 km husky ride
Spend the day as a musher by guiding a sled dog team! Admire the silence of nature as the sledge slides through the snowy landscapes.
The program begins with a thorough driving lesson, after which you can safely control the husky sledge yourself. One of you acts as a musher , i.e. a dog sled driver, while the other enjoys the scenery as a passenger. There will be breaks where you can switch places, so both of you can be a musher.
The safari is about 35-45 km long, during which you can really experience husky ride and enjoy the silence in the middle of nature. The safari includes a lunch in nature provided by the guide, and during the break you can ask more about the lives of the huskies.
This safari is suitable for adults who want to experience more.
